Neighbors Day 2025
Saturday, April 26
8 am to 3 pm
Each year, hundreds of volunteers help elderly and disabled La Crosse residents, clean up their yards for spring. Services provided by volunteer groups include raking yards, trimming shrubs, washing windows, and weeding gardens. Starting in 2025, Habitat is committed to providing more sustainable alternatives to support our community. As part of this initiative, volunteers will no longer turn garden beds to prevent nutrient loss and minimize disruption to soil life.
We can help you if you are:
Elderly and/or disabled;AND live in La Crosse (Shelby & Campbell NOT included)AND own your home. The homeowner or a representative must be present at the time of service to sign a liability waiver. If there is a preference for morning or afternoon, please let us know. Otherwise, we cannot provide an exact time for when a group of volunteers will be at your property, as it depends on the number of volunteers available.Harter's Quick Clean-Up is donating their time to collect yard waste, including grass clippings, leaves, and weeds. All yard waste bags must be placed where Harter's has picked up yard waste in the past at the homeowner's house and will be picked up by Saturday, May 10. Brush pick-up will align with the City of La Crosse Brush Week. Please ensure that bundles are placed on the boulevard for the City of La Crosse to collect from the property.Once we have received 200 recipients, a wait list will be created in case of cancellations. Please fill out the questions, and we will contact you if you are placed on the wait list.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region
At Habitat, we envision a Coulee Region with ample, quality housing options and healthy, sustainable communities for all. We believe that decent, affordable housing should be a matter of conscience and action; we realize that there are people in our community who are living in inadequate conditions and that joining together we can provide a hand up – not a hand out. Our values are as follows.
Committed to reuse and environmental sustainability: We believe healthy land and water are essential to a sense of home and belonging. Sustainable practices are embedded in our programs.
Rooted in faith in community: We honor the traditions and values of our founders, and we respect the needs and challenges of our local community as we together seek solutions for affordable housing.
Driven to innovate: We believe our mission calls us to be creative in our work. We look for fresh solutions and partnerships to solve the problems facing our community.
Called to advocate: We demand forward-thinking from our elected officials and work to keep the critical need for quality, affordable housing at the forefront of policy makers’ minds.
