  • Build camaraderie within the team while helping to build up those in our community!
    2025 Student Service Days include:
    - Sat Aug 23, 9:45 to 11:45am (Viterbo) in the ReStore
    - Sat Oct 4, 9:45 to 11:45am (Viterbo) in the ReStore
    - Sat Oct 18, 10am to 1pm (UWL) ReStore and construction TBD
    - Sat Nov 8, 10am to 1pm (all three) ReStore and construction TBD

Volunteers at the ReStore get a behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of La Crosse’s only discount home improvement store. In a typical day, volunteers help track incoming donations, support customers, and keep things running smoothly. Volunteers might split into smaller groups to support different areas of the store: receiving, recycling room, and the checkout counter. Special projects (TBD) might include crafting holiday ornaments, constructing shelving for a new section of the store, or landscaping in the ReStore’s native plant gardens.

Special instructions: Plan for working outside and wear layers. Closed-toed shoes are required. Work gloves are provided on-site, but if you have a pair you like you’re encouraged to bring them. Bring a refillable water bottle. Prompt arrival time at the start of your shift is important for the safety orientation.

In Support of Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region
At Habitat, we envision a Coulee Region with ample, quality housing options and healthy, sustainable communities for all. We believe that decent, affordable housing should be a matter of conscience and action; we realize that there are people in our community who are living in inadequate conditions and that joining together we can provide a hand up – not a hand out. Our values are as follows.

Committed to reuse and environmental sustainability: We believe healthy land and water are essential to a sense of home and belonging. Sustainable practices are embedded in our programs.
Rooted in faith in community: We honor the traditions and values of our founders, and we respect the needs and challenges of our local community as we together seek solutions for affordable housing.
Driven to innovate: We believe our mission calls us to be creative in our work. We look for fresh solutions and partnerships to solve the problems facing our community.
Called to advocate: We demand forward-thinking from our elected officials and work to keep the critical need for quality, affordable housing at the forefront of policy makers’ minds.
